As I am sitting down to write this months blog, I just wrapped up taking the final exam of the year and I cannot believe that we are now done with the program. The year truly flew by.  It was filled with many obstacles including trying to navigate Covid as well as Hurricane Ida, but we have finally made it to the finish line. Despite the craziness, it was an amazing year. I could not think of a better program to have participated in. Not only did I learn so much, but I was able to foster new relationships and make life long friends along the way, all while being able to stay in the amazing city that I have called home now for the last 4 years. I enjoyed each class we took and feel as if the material we learned this year will be extremely beneficial down the road and especially in medical school.

For my service this month, I returned to the food bank and was also able to again take part in the class art project. Over the year, we were all able to come together a few times to design and make homemade cards for foster children. While I can't say I am the best artist, I do hope that I was able to make a few kids day when they read my cards.

For the food bank, I continued my volunteering in the community kitchen. Over my time there, I have really begun to get to get to know many of the other volunteers and staff. Volunteering there has truly been an amazing experience. I am always reminded that no matter how much we do, there is always more that can be done. After transferring to Tulane after my freshman year, the city and the people of New Orleans welcomed me with open arms. Since my first day of sophomore year at Tulane, I haven't looked back once. New Orleans will always have a place in my heart and I am hopeful that my time in the city has only just begun.

I hope that every one of my classmates enjoyed this year as much as I did. The program exceeded my expectations and it was truly an amazing experience. I look forward to keeping in touch with everyone as we all get ready to enter the next stages of our life.
